Meatball Sundae Order Is Late: Great Service From Amazon
Restaurant Marketing: I pre-ordered Seth Godin’s new book “Meatball Sundae.” I just received an email from Amazon saying that shipping was going to be delayed by about 5-7 days. Wow, what great service, to keep me informed of my order. Now, if this could only happen in a restaurant, there’d be less unhappy guests complaining about bad service. It’s all about communication to head off a little stress.

Mellow Mushroom: High Cost, Little Value
When it comes to restaurant marketing, the Mellow Mushroom does a decent job. When it comes to their product in terms of price and value, it posts a loss. High price with little value. Soft drinks $1.90 each. Small salads $3.10. Large pizza $14, add on pepperoni, tomatoes, mushrooms at $2.10 each and total for the pizza was close to $20. And the pizza wasn’t even that great. No kick, totally bland. Walked out paying $40. No value there.
Ask your guests if they feel they got a great value for their money. If not, they’ll be like me, walking around telling everyone that this restaurant is a rip-off.

Restaurant Marketing: A Skinny Latte From Starbucks
During January, Starbucks will introduce a “skinny latte”—a nonfat latte drink made with sugar-free syrup that has 50 percent or less calories than one made with regular syrup.
The 12-ounce caffe latte or caffe mocha made with sugar-free syrup and nonfat milk has 90 calories. That compares with the 12-ounce white chocolate mocha latte made with whole milk and whipped cream, which has nearly 400 calories.

16 Secrets Restaurants Don’t Want You To Know About
Try asking them about calories or nutritional information. Good luck ‘cause you’ll never get the answer. Men’s Health Magazine put together this great article. When reading it, it’s hard to believe that some of the country’s top chains don’t give a damn about your health. For example Panera Bread doesn’t want you to know that the synthetic food colorings in its pastries have been linked to irritability, restlessness, and sleep disturbance in children.
